5. TYPES OF PRACTICUM:

1.  General Practicum
  • For those with less than 1 yr of full time ministry or 5 years of key lay leadership roles,
  • Practice admin strategy in the context of a target ministry or people group: Clarity of purpose; responsibilities;  leadership team; communication; schedule; finance; handling obstacles/guidelines or policies
  • For first & second year theological students

2.  Pastoral Formational Practicum: 
  • For all vocational students regardless of Major. An MBTS distinctive. 
  • Activities that help cultivate pastoral attitude and skills (People oriented ministry).  Learn about the profile of target people group; establish visitation & involve others to provide care & support

3. Mission Formational Practicum:
  • For all vocational students regardless of Major. Another MBTS distinctive.
  • Activities that help cultivate a passion for the lost, and concern to respond directly or indirectly.
  • Readiness in personal evangelism; connecting  new visitors/prospects; basic follow-up with decision made;
  • Experience the dynamics of different mission trips.

4. Major / Emphasis Supervised Ministry
  • Practicum required according to the Major  Emphasis.

               Counseling

5. Internship:
  • Required according to the Program and the Major  emphasis (3 to 9 months.) 
  • Basic rationale: 
               To field test one's ministry direction/intention prior to graduation.
               To discover one's strength and weakness in the intended ministry prior to graduation.
               To enhance the potential engagement in the ministry upon graduation.
