DOCTOR OF MISSIOLOGY DEGREE OVERVIEW
Purpose of the Degree
The purpose of the degree is train future lecturers in missions and future leaders for missions agencies in the Asian context.
Accreditation
Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary is fifty years old and is fully accredited by the Asia Theological Association.
Educational Prerequisites
Master of Divinity or Master of Arts in Missiology (or equivalent) from an accredited seminary. Applicants must have a grade point average of B+ and must pass an entrance examination.
Potential Students
Potential students would include junior lecturers at evangelical seminaries and Bible colleges in Asia. We would also seek to enroll missionaries and missions leaders who would benefit from advanced training in missiology.
Educational Format
Because the potential students are already engaged in ministry, the program will be designed in a non-residential format. That is, the seminars will be offered two or three times each year in short-term modules (one-week intensives). We anticipate that interchange via the internet will constitute a significant element of the learning.

When a student begins the dissertation process, the first step will be to consult with the supervising professor. The second step will be to prepare a prospectus of the dissertation. The process will conclude with an oral examination (oral defense) of the dissertation before a committee of three faculty members.
